Parade

On behalf of the Parade Committee of the Old Shawnee Days Society, I would like to welcome you to the 58th Annual Old Shawnee Days Parade on Saturday, June 6th, 2026 at 10:00am. 

 
New Judging and Awards System in 2026!

The Old Shawnee Days Parade will award First Place, Second Place, and Third Place cash prizes based on total judging scores. All entries are evaluated using a numeric scoring system tied directly to the official parade theme. See below for more details!
 
 

Awards
  • First Place: $350
  • Second Place: $250
  • Third Place: $150
Published Judging Criteria (For Entrants)

Parade entries are evaluated on how well they:

• Reflect the official parade theme.
• Demonstrate creativity and effort.
• Engage parade spectators.
• Showcase Kansas pride and community spirit.

Judging is conducted using a numeric scoring system to promote fairness, consistency, and transparency.

Judging Categories & Point Values

 Creativity & Originality  Uniqueness and imagination of the concept  10
 Visual Impact & Craftsmanship  Overall appearance and presentation from the curb  10
 Crowd Engagement & Energy  Enthusiasm and entertainment value  10
 Community Spirit  Kansas pride and positive message  10
   Max points possible:  50

Judges assign one whole-number score per category. Decimals are not permitted.
Numeric Scoring Guide
0–10 Scale
(Theme Execution, Creativity & Originality, Visual Impact & Craftsmanship, Crowd Engagement &
Energy)

• 0–2 Minimal – Little or no effort
• 3–4 Below Average – Weak or incomplete execution
• 5–6 Good – Meets expectations
• 7–8 Very Good – Strong, above-average execution
• 9–10 Excellent – Exceptional, memorable, best-in-parade quality
Determining Winners

• Scores from all judges are combined to determine final totals.
• The three highest-scoring entries receive First Place, Second Place, and Third Place.
• Tie-breakers, in order:

1. Higher Theme Execution score.
2. Higher Creativity & Originality score.
3. Final determination by the Parade Committee.

Judges’ decisions are final.

Honorable Mentions
The Parade Committee may recognize select entries with Honorable Mentions:

• Non-cash recognition.
• Not part of the numeric scoring process.
• May be announced during the parade, on social media, or in post-parade communications.
• No physical awards will be distributed.
Registration Acknowledgment
Participation in the Old Shawnee Days Parade is free and voluntary.

By registering for the parade, entrants acknowledge that they have read, understand, and agree to
comply with all parade rules, conduct standards, and enforcement decisions. Failure to comply may result in disqualification from judging or removal from the parade route.
